Cookie policy
Last updated: 29 August 2026
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Carron Media Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on carronmedia.com. These technologies can include cookies, pixels, scripts and browser storage. They may store information on, or access information from, your device.
2. Your choices
We use technologies that are strictly necessary for requested website functions without asking for consent. We do not activate non-essential analytics or experience-measurement technologies unless you choose to allow them. The consent panel provides equally available accept and reject choices and lets you change your settings later through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. You can also delete or block cookies using your browser, although blocking necessary technologies may prevent a requested feature from working.
3. Categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Default |
| Strictly necessary | Security, fraud/spam prevention, load balancing, consent recording and delivery of a feature you request. | On where the legal exception applies. |
| Analytics and experience | Understand visits, sessions and interaction patterns so we can improve the site. | Off until you consent. |
| Marketing | Measure campaigns or personalise advertising. | Not currently intended; off unless introduced with consent. |
4. Current technology register
The following technologies were identified in the site configuration reviewed on 19 August 2026. The live cookie settings panel and this table must be kept consistent after every scan or implementation change.
| Provider / technology | Purpose | Typical storage or duration | Control |
| Carron Media / consent record | Remembers the visitor’s cookie choices. | Up to 12 months. | Strictly necessary. |
| Carron Media / WordPress and Gravity Forms | Delivers pages, validates and submits the enquiry form, and supports security and load management. | Session or short-lived unless the live register states otherwise. | Strictly necessary where needed for the requested form or service. |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Helps detect spam, fraud and automated abuse on forms. Google may receive technical and device information and may use cookies or similar technologies. | Google determines the particular identifiers and durations; the live scan must record those set for the deployed configuration. | Load when the form is used; document the strictly-necessary assessment or obtain consent where required. |
| Automattic / Akismet | Assesses submitted form content and technical data for spam. | Primarily server-side processing; any device storage found by the live scan must be listed. | Strictly necessary where proportionate for form security. |
| Google Analytics 4 (G-GKHDWTM1TX) | Measures visits and interaction patterns so Carron Media can understand and improve website use. | _ga: normally up to two years; _ga_GKHDWTM1TX: normally up to two years. Confirm the live values after configuration. | Off until analytics consent. The Google tag itself should also be withheld for the strict blocking configuration requested. |
5. Google Analytics
Carron Media uses Google Analytics 4 under measurement ID G-GKHDWTM1TX to understand website use and improve the site. At the time of review, the Google tag loaded directly on the pages checked. It must be changed so the tag and Analytics cookies are blocked until the visitor consents to analytics. The observed configuration is expected to use _ga and _ga_GKHDWTM1TX, normally for up to two years, but a clean-browser scan must confirm the names and actual retention after the consent plugin is configured.
6. Third parties and international processing
Google and Automattic operate their own services and may process information outside the United Kingdom. Their processing is also described in their own privacy materials. Carron Media addresses international transfers as explained in its privacy notice and vendor contracts.
7. Browser controls
Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies and site storage. Browser controls vary, and blocking all storage can affect website functionality. The site’s own cookie settings are the preferred way to manage optional technologies because browser deletion alone may not communicate your preference to Carron Media.
8. Changes and contact
We update this policy when technologies, purposes or retention periods change. Contact privacy@carronmedia.com with questions or to raise a data-protection complaint.
